It is always advisable to take an Immigration Attorney with you during an AOS interview. Attorneys usually fill in when you pause or are uncertain. Thanks for sharing this information - looks like this is a very generic interview.
The most important question was - to know if your educational qualification is good enough for the job and all other questions were just fillers.

I agree. You should take the advice of a lawyer first. Local cops and immigration are seperate branches. When you report a crime, in my opinion, the cops don't ask you for your immigration status before starting their investigations. Even if they do, they are not going to tell the immigration that a person on H-1B has hired someone who is not authorized to work. It is best to see an good attorney who might change you couple of hundred dollars only.
As hpandey said, the reason she continues to work is because she continues to find jobs with people who are looking for Indian nanny and most of such people are willing to look the other way when it comes to nannys immigration status because the nanny charges less or maybe because the nanny speaks your local language and apart from taking care of your kids also cooks for you while you are out working. If you report her to the cops it will make sure that she and others like her never do such a thing again. It will send a message to all such unauthorized workers to stop misusing their immigration status. Also, you might be able to save other children from similar trauma.

We have had similar experiences in Southern California as well. We are about a group of 10 - 15 ppl. in so.cal who actively take part in the action items and contribute inspite of having 113 registered members in the chapter. We recruited over 200 newbies in the past three events in southern california. Let's see if we can get all of them to register and get active

Hi, Please let me know your thought on my situation. I was on H1 thru Company A. I don't have pay stubs for the last 3 months of 2005 since i was on bench, but got the salary that is mentioned on LCA in pay stubs till end of Sept. When I asked my employer to pay me for the time on bench he said that he has paid the LCA salary and doesn't have to pay.
So having said that, am I in Status or Out of Status?

IV strikes a blow for the high skilled community!
Remember the time when members were ringing up the phones of Senators and Congressmen during last year's CIR discussions? I suppose we all came of age around then.. and grass roots members got the idea they could make a difference.. From then on, IV has been going from strength to strength, a snowball finally on the move.. leading to the flower campaign, then the rally, and now, this!!
My hats off to the core members, who have skilfully steered this sometimes raucous, but always enthusiastic ship.
I was going through my Paypal transactions, and totting up my contributions. The tally? not nearly enough!! So adding some more to the kitty.
Its a small price to pay for the biggest payback, of all: A voice!
