I have now read it at so many places, if I didn't know anything about H1-B visas, I would probably have believed it by now. So we really should make a point to mention that we pay taxes and social security.

While I was waiting for GC, I finished MBA last year. I have a Masters degree in Comp. Sc. also. It has been 4 1/2 years with no clear indication regarding the LC alone. Hats off to the screwed up concept of BEC. If my LC is not processed in time, I might leave next year.
I am thinking of doing a part time job on H-1B also. If that pans out well, atleast I will forget the pain of GC for a while.

Now that USCIS / DOS know that they have made mistake and also aware that this is exposed to the entire country. So this is what they are doing.
1. Keep all the applications pending so that AILF could not start the lawsuit. ALIF needs rejection proof.
2. Updated their site stating the receipt notice will be sent after Aug 1st, So everyone keeps quiet till this date.
3. I beleive, the Judge will rule out by July 29 saying that itis fault of DOS / USCIS and say they have to accept all the applications which are filed in July leaving the applicants only two days to file.
4. No one can argue that all the ELIGIBLE applicants should be allowed to file. The reason is NOT all the eligible applicants filed in June. Also if you feel that you are eligible for July, then you should have prepared all your application papers ready by July 29. If you cannot file, you are out.
I feel, this is what is going to happen. So better prepare your papers and keep it ready.

You have to register (males only) if you become a Permanent Resident in the ages 18-26; otherwise you could have problems during naturalization (N-400 has a specific question for Selective Service) and securing Federal Student Aid.

Based on my understanding once 485 is filed, one can only get one year H1b extension it does not matter if one uses EAD/AP.
i thought it had to do with visa numbers being unavailable rather than 485 filing

Wife and I attended H1 visa interview on Dec'13th, I got passport in 1 week, haven't received passport for wife. Consular staff very rude, say her petition details are not in their system so have to wait. They hang up phone as we are following up everyday. They say 4-5 days everytime we call them

AC21 doesn't contradict any law. AC21 memo is a real memo. It provides guidance for areas that are not clearly defined. So no point in comparing AC21 memo against the latest illegal memo by USCIS.

Like I said, I did not catch the whole speech, but from what I heard, he was not talking completely against it, he mentioned that businesses need more H1B's and should be able to hire foreign talent.
He was mainly against abuse by big consulting firms (he gave out a statistic that 20K of the H1B went for 8 or 9 of the top consulting firms or something like that).
At least there is something happening..... we have only two weeks....... this may be our only chance this year to attach anything EB
Please follow all the different threads/news on this forum about Durbin and Grassley bills. There is nothing good there for H1B or EB visa provisions. Nothing good comes out of that, neither for employees (prospective or current) nor for employers...my 2 cents...

I would think IT experience is the same anywhere so taking it to canada should be ok? If not there are plenty of other management jobs there. It might be a new start but in a one year timespan you will be well established.
Is it just my wishful thinking?
As for masters, are you persuing MBA? How about PMP?
1. Apply for Canandian PR and then if you are lucky you may get a good job in Canada in IT or else you will end up working in Wal*Mart or some grocery store cursing why you came here. Canadian Companies wants Canadian experience. US experience is not enough! :(
2. Just enjoy without doing anything and hope that your GC would come before you die. :D

Otherwise due to utter frustration, I'm not able to concentrate and work. If you are wise enough you would understand that there is no place for you here in US and you would push off immediately. :)

I believe, the best and safest way to disseminate such important information is through state chapters. I know what you are getting at when suggesting that we should be open about our needs and goals .... The strategic vision is pretty much laid out by the core and is clear enough for the general public (I think) ...

I agree that posting the monetary figures might not be a good idea. But we need to find a way to make everyone who visits the site part of the bigger picture. I see that happening if we have a Percentage Ticker on the site which shows how much of the target is met and how much is left.

Did you have a personal experience about pre-existing conditions getting covered? Or do you personally know anyone who got covered for pre-existing conditions? If so, please provide complete details. How much was the total expense? How much did they cover? Was there network negotiated charge? How much time did it talk to get the money back?

This time again I am hunting for medical insurance for my parents and from based on my initial research I don;t find much benefit in using US based company either. If you know someone who have good experience with US based company in emergency situations then please post it.

No. It's not a typo. I had met Aman in a conference in December. He was talking about selling his house to contribute to IV (I really hope he didn't have to). But he has contributed a small fortune to this effort.
