Please desist from putting such quotes. You will put the whole campaign in jeopardy. We are following Mahatma Gandhi's principles. Please take note
saying "I love you Emilio" for screwing up my I-485 app.

In my opinion keeping donation options from $25/- upwards to whatever max value within One time and recurring categories would be inclusive startegy.
Currently we are turning away the members who want to donate but who can not afford and/or do not want to donate $ 100/- and upwards.

My personal theory is that who is really willing to donate $ 100/- and upwards and can afford is going to donate that handsome amount even if we keep $ 25/- option.

Now Ball is in court of core.

I beg to differ. IV is not turning away anyone. What stops someone from contributing $100 once every 10 months?
    The issue is something else.

In order to contribute even $10, you need to:
    1) be convinced about the cause of IV
    2) be convinced this organization means business!
    3) give up the "penny wise pound foolish" attitude

    (1) This should be easy for those who were unable to file their AOS applications in July/August 2007, because one of IV's primary goals (abolish retrogression) should then be your goal.
This is also easy for those who filed their AOS, if only they realize that "working on AC21/EAD" is not as much fun as it seems, you really need the Green Card to live and work the way you want!

    (2) is a proven fact, and most of us are already enjoying the benefits of this!

    (3) Finally, people feel overwhelmed by the thought of donating $50 or $100 to IV but they are happy to spend much more on gasoline, phone-calls, and drinks. You make no difference to your quality of life when you spend $50 on gas and $100 on food when you go sight seeing on a weekend. But when you donate that money to IV, you are supporting the one and only grass roots organization that means business when it comes to fighting for your own quality of life!

It's like investing in a "credit score" monitoring product for a year before you actually apply for a loan!

If that analogy makes sense, please please realize you need a similar strategy for your green card, and contribute to IV.

Preferably, sign up for recurring contributions, as this is the one thing that will help IV in forecasting and planning.
If nothing else, write to a core team member and let them know you will pay $N1 over N2 number of months.
    Thanks!

    1) We got a spike in new membership and funds
    2) We now have atleast 2 more NATIONAL publications who have taken notice of our activities and are more sympathetic to our causes. They feel we have a compelling story and they are interested in publishing about our plight...

In fact two IV members are being interviewed today by a leading publication.

    and the most important
    3) We got additional material to provide to senators and their staff...this really helps as we do not have to establish ourselves....our stories along with newspaper articles help make our case much stronger....

When we initially started meeting senators, their staff would ask QGA 'Immigration Voice, who or what is that?'

Lately when we go to meet them, most of the staff have already visited our sites multiple times, know about us because of phone calls and faxes by members and ofcourse the articles that have been published....on top of this when we provide stories of members from their constituency, 50% of our work is already achieved....the liason team and QGA take over from there.

So to answer your question, yes it helped a lot

The idea that core wants to float is to have an effective campaign under the IV umbrella. Please come up with more innovative ideas and discuss with core.

I think this campaign can be pretty effective if we want it to. This idea is not totally outlandish. If you recall, recently fans of the CBS series Jericho sent nuts to the office of CBS when that series was discontinued.

Sometime back, Indians in the UK sent thousands of unstamped letters to their postal department, protesting a stamp that hurt their religious sentiments.

Those campaigns worked and so can this. All we need is a little bit of enthusiasm!

Please relax. Thanks for your initiative to put up flyers. It would be nice if you could attend the DC rally in person. :)

If you are unable, please do try to contribute such that someone else can attend the rally.

Lol no I'm relaxed enough...just worked up about the rally. I am attending and did contribute too. Am meeting some others later to put up more flyers. All this did was get me more psyched...no harm done :)

Dont you have something called humanity? How are you different from the officer how has done this act? You dont even have a greencard and talking about paying from your pocket?? What would you become when you are citizen here?

    Another Lou Dobbs??

    Shame on you!!

Easy bro. What humanity are we talking about here? I have no sympathies for illegal immigrants. Here's what I feel. Folks who are already here illegally - give them citizenship after they pay all the taxes they owe.
For still others who continue to keep coming in, strip them, give them dozen lashes in public, and send them back naked.

I think you should consider accepting stories of those you have yet to start their GC process. This gives another perspective, to tell people that even those who are highly qualified and experienced are in two minds whether to file for GC or not. Why this thought? this is because the delays and long wait acts as a deterent. End of the day, if these people are already frustrated at the onset, then they may decide to leave US and seek opportunities elsewhere, leading to loss of such valuable talent to the US. This was explicitly highlighted in yesterday's Judiciary Committee presentations by the four Economists.

While accepting stories from those waiting for GC, please also accept stories from those who are apprehensive of filing due to the delays, hence conveying a reason that US risks losing highly skilled workers should these circumstances continue.

    These are my thoughts!

And I agree with you 100%. If you would carefully read my posts, you will notice that I have said to Waitnwatch that the reporter I was referring to specifically wanted someone who was in the process. This clearly is limited to one reporter only.

We might have a reporter tomorrow who wants to cover IV but only those folks who are not even starting their process and wary of the wait.

So please do not misconstrue me. Send in your stories. It does not matter if you are just a student looking forward to immigrate, someone like Waitnwatch who is collecting documents to start the process, someone retrogressed, in the back logs or even just on the verge of getting approval. We need all the stories.

When we go to Senators, if we present a spectrum of stories like this, it will have the most impact.

    Hope this clarifies a lot.

A humble request though. Please do not send me stories by messaging. I have a separate folder that I use for this and it would really help if you would email me instead of messaging me. Also, please follow the template so that we know exactly in which stage of GC you are, who are your senators etc.

    Thanks

Since AILA has also taken interest into a proposal like this Don't you think we should engage them in planning the next strategy.

    http://www.ilw.com/articles/2009,0225-endelman.shtm

The link you have posted seems to talk about allowing to file for 485 even though the priority date may not be current.

It would be difficult to combine both the proposals. The combination would mean that everyone would enjoy the benefits of being allowed to continue living and working in the country with no annual limit. Which basically means no control of immigrants.

I am not in anyway opposing this. But we need to look at it based on how the decision makers are going to perceive it.

I feel what is being proposed by 'realizeit' is realistic and will not hamper the annual limits. It would be good if someone has contacts with the AILA and can persue the matter as a coalition effort.

I am in for the flowers thing. However I have a suggestion, sending flowers just to Director U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will not help much, we need to draw the attention on congress on this to increase the green card quota and get rid of country quota. Any suggestion how we can draw attention of congress by sending flowers on JULY 10th?

It is unfair to say that many EB3 and EB2 folks are stuck in GC queue for more than 10 years, FOR NO FAULT OF THEIRS. Yes, they are stuck but there is fault, in most cases, they knew they were risking it by changing employers for petty raises or other reason. If they followed the original H1B rule and stayed with sponsoring employer, GC for EB3 took a max of 7 years even with the old system of RIR (not PERM) or even without RIR - and that is MAX....very rare.

If your statements are true why are the dates backloged and EB3 stuck at April 2002? Employment based greencards should be given preference than others for several reasons:

    1. Getting into US legally
    2. Living legally
    3. Got into US on invitation by the employer (I am talking about the most genuine cases)
    4. Intention was dual (to work in US and there by immigrate)
    5. Generating revenue to the govt by paying taxes

If the employers have not offered to apply for permanent residency people would have not had any intentions of staying back in US and to buy houses. They would have worked for allocated period of time and have gone back to home country like they do in most of the European countries.

As many are aware, there was a huge rush to buy and sell pre-approved labors during July-August 2007, when all the priority dates were suddenly made current. Tens of thousands of labors were sold by fraudulent consulting companies to many questionable GC seekers, who hadnt even started the process till then.

It is those substituted labors which are clogging the pipelines now. Just think, last month EB3-I stood at November 2001. Now it is completely unavailable. It cant be possibly because so many pending labors with such old priority dates suddenly got cleared this month, and beneficiary of these labors filed 140+485 together. I seriously doubt that a candidate whose labor is pending since such a long time is even keeping that GC process alive. In all likelihood he/she must have moved on in life.

There is only one explanation. These labors were already pre-approved. It is the attached I-140 on these labors that are getting approved rapidly. And the subsequent I-485 petitions on these applications are depleting the visa numbers.

The reason of this post is not to start an argument about the ethics of labor substitution. It is just a FYI post to explain the seemingly inexplicable. The chickens are coming home to roost.

Yes true. A significant chunk of the old PDs now are cases of substituted labor.
Labor substitution was acting like a time machine to go back in time and apply for GC.
People paid as high as 10K to 12K for old labor.

Com'on guys. I make less than $1000 per paycheck (< 30K per year) and yet I am willing to part with $50 to support IV. I am sure many of you make at least twice my salary.

Please contribute to IV and help yourselves in obtaining your GCs faster than the projected 10-12 year current wait time due to retrogression.

First and foremost, a Big THANK YOU to all the IV core team who along side their full time jobs were working behind the scenes in getting this done and having to go through the hecklers and naysayers.

A big thank you to Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren in helping pass all the pain and outrage of legal immigrants to the people incharge and making them listen.

Also last but not the least, every active member of IV who participated in the flower campaign, in San Jose rally and in actively informing media on IV projects to showcase legal immigration issues. And for keeping saner heads in the insane times.

BUT WE ARE FAR FROM ACCOMPLISHING WHAT WE SET OUT TO DO.
    KEEP THE FIGHT ALIVE
