    Do you belong to a state chapter?
    if you don't can you please join a state chapter?
    If a state chapter does not exist in your area can you form one?
    Can you recruit new members to be part of state chapters?
    Can you motivate newbies to be active?
    Can you meet your Local Lawmakers and talk about your issues?
    Can you make a contribution to IV?
    Can you motivate other IV'ans to contribute?

    Sure. Like I stated before, I have been educating people about IV here for quite some time now. Let me know what needs to be done. If you all can share your experiences, I can work on it.

    When employees post for job, they might say �need a citizen or gc holder�. But never say we only need a H1-B holder. So when we have respected and followed the rules of this country immigration becomes a right as logic life suggested.

    These types of employment advertisements are discriminatory and are thus illegal unless it is work that requires security clearance. I am surprised that the Department of Justice is going after employers (http://www.immigration.com/newsletter1/doj_investigation.html) who may have advertised jobs for non citizens while not going after the numerous advertisements that discriminate against non US citizens. I am aware of atleast one high profile company that engages in this type of activity in its advertisements (however one needs to apply and be rejected in order to file a complaint). The double standard is indeed disturbing :

    anyone can start a thread, if you need help doing it, you may wish to ask politely and someone will tell you.

    why so? ask yourself. read your own comments. and let us all know how you have helped the process of ending YOUR retrogression.

    i have reviewed every post you ever put on iv. i don't see any deleted post.
    so you may want to think again. hardly anything is deleted around here. otherwise a lot of intemperate stuff that's posted would disappear.


    ultimately it comes to this: if 25,000 members show no interest in contributing in a fund drive (barring the minuscule 500 who did), what's the point in being "friendly". hey- iv is you and me. there is nothing else. no building, assets, stocks. I or aman or pappu or logiclife and every other core member and iv leader are just like you. we have jobs and families to take care of. we are afflicted by immigration retrogression- like you.
    we have put in time, money and effort at great cost to our personal lives. i wish i could "like you" to that one too.

    if "members" are willing to make this their organization their own- if there is to be this sense of involvement and ownership, then we will succeed. if not, if the attitude for the most is going to be "why should i" and "nope i am not contributing" and "how dare you ask" and "i have free speech" and "why doesn't iv do xyz for me" and "why should logiclife use this and that tenor" and "why did abc say def to me" and "i demand respect" and the best "these are my 2c but don't ask me to lift a finger to do this- iv should do this" then forget it. won't happen. because that IV you are imagining doing wonders and making miracles is YOU.

    let me take this opportunity to thank everyone that participated in the fund drive, joined state chapters, met lawmakers, took initiatives to start state groups, ran the funding threads and contributed in any other way.
    you are guys are true assets to iv- in fact you are the true iv. kudos to you!

    Your attoney should be able to defend your case based on you salary more than PW.

    The GC process is for future employement, your bosses ability to pay exists since he has paid you more salary than PW.

    Your employer may be making loss every year, but he is paying you more than PW. Now your salary in itself is an expense for employer, so the fact that he is paying you may be making his financials look a little weak in term of profit loss.


    Look at other threads on RFE issues, and talk to your lawyer.
    I think you are fine.

    When it comes to "employment of beneficiary" in proving ability to pay, the employer should prove that he had paid the proffered wage from the time PD is established continuing until the beneficiary obtains permanent residence.

    It doesn�t matter if he�s getting paid the proffered wage now. The employer should prove the same from the time PD is established.

    I just thought I will play the devil's advocate.

    It could be that $100 or $50 is a big amount for people. Maybe people do not make $80K a year, just half of that (there are may H1Bs like that). Micro-payments may be a better option for some people. Do we want to disallow those contributions as well? People who want to pay will pay and people who do not want to pay will not pay. I guess we just have to make sure that we donot deny the people who want to pay but cannot. :)

    I am willing to go along with monthly payments as there seems to be a consensus on this forum that it is the best option.

    Right, IV is not officially promoting this, and rightly so... every contributing member will then sign up for $10 a month, everyone else will complain about why it is not $5 a month.

    What I meant is, if someone wants to contribute $60 over 6 months, they can do it rightaway. Just paypal it to donations at immigrationvoice.org, then remember to do it again after 6 months.

    Why wait for IV to lay the red carpet, when you can walk in right now?

    If there is the WILL, there is a way. But if you decide to wait for some scheme to sign up thousands of $10 contributors, then the day WILL never come.

    This is not targetted to you, but this is for anyone & everyone who has been "considering" contributing for the last seveal weeks/months/years thinking about it everyday over a $2.5 cafe latte.

    Remember, most people are working hard and chances are that they may get fired for jobs doing this.

    SO many IV members have been risking thier jobs to work hard on these things.

    So many people have taken unpaid vacations, spent valuble time on this.

    Kudos to Aman, Himanshu, Jwalant, and all other folks who are helping the community.

    A lot of people are free riders, they come to IV for informartion only. A lot of people do not want to do anything, just because someone else is doing it for them. I have heard excuses from people saying "Don't you have anything else to do??? You will be fired from your job, I bet you, don't get disillusioned by these folks at IV, they cant move a stone"

    Alot of members have fled to immigrationvoice with a hope to get their GC very quickly. Today the organization have received a final blow in its coffin when the House Judiciary Committee did'nt even look at HR5882.

    Members are always been targeted for contributions for lobbyists, free lunch etc. and yet nothing concrete have been acheived by IV. I have never seen this website(immigrationportal) ask members for a single dollar yet have been just as helpful or even more helpful than IV and also this website is flame free you can express your self without fear. At IV to disagree you are a moron..(GIVING RED DOTS, ACTING LIKE A GROUP OF KINDERGARDEN KIDS, NO WONDER THE HORSE BILL WAS MARKUP AND HR5882 ISN'T)

    I think its time for the chicken to come back to roost, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Save your money in this time of need and lets us make this site what it was in past before when some selfish persons seeking self gratification lure away members. The moderators of this site is to blame because they played a part in sucking up them, by deleting post that IV is not pleased of and giving aways members IP, thus in the process leaving this site to die a slow death.

    I know IV hardcore members will attack this post and ask mod to delete this thread etc. They will be even more stupid to do so. (Its beter IV spend their time organizing a huge rally in Washington next year than telling their poor members to call senators and congress reps.)

    Republicans who are going out will try to pass the CIR now so that they can mold it to their liking. Sessenbremer is smart and may realize that passing during lame duck session when he is chair of the immigration committee means he can mold the legislation to his conservative liking.If Democrats are smart they will not move on the Immigration reforms now so that the Latinos will be a safe voting block for them. On the other hand senior Democrats may go with passing it during the lame duck session itself because a large number of new democrats are to the right of the mainstream and new fissures may open up. From this perspective it may be better for the Democratic party to get the CIR through now with republican support.

    I have valid H1B visa in my passport. Can I travel via london to india.
